Maidstone District Cricket Academy

About Us

The Maidstone District Cricket Academy organises cricket courses for boys, girls, men and women, we cover all age groups from 5 years old through to adults. The Academy is in partnership with the local authority Maidstone Borough Council and the Kent Cricket Board. Schools and clubs within the local authority’s area are informed of all the courses that the Academy run. Qualified and experienced ECB cricket coaches staff all the courses. The programme for the youngsters is designed to give them a better understanding of cricket and the terms used regarding batting, bowling and fielding, but the emphasis is very much on enjoyment and full participation in all the activities.

The aim of the Academy is to network with all the relevant stakeholders, other District Development Officers around the county and the Kent Cricket Board Development Office.

The Academy aim is to:

  • Introduce to as many boys and girls the game of cricket and develop the game at grass roots level, making cricket stronger at school and club level.
  • Organise coaching sessions within the district for boys and girls up to 17 years old.
  • Identifying talented players and recommending them for district, area and county trials.
  • Develop a club/schools link.
  • Link with the local authority and private providers to meet the needs of cricket.
  • Provide courses for adults (men and women) to hone their skills for the coming season.
  • Encourage parents to get involved with cricket development and give them the opportunity to participate by providing an overview of the skills required.
